As we “officially” kick things off for Amazon Fashion Week Tokyo for the 2019 Spring/Summer Collection, this summary will be updated with snaps and information from the daily activities.
Fashion Week kicked things off with a few changes… Amazon seemed to have cut ties with Fashion week putting JFWO into scramble mode and picked up Rakuten as the marquee sponsor a couple months before launching Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo 2020 S/S collection with Yoshikimono opening the week of fashion shows. Now that Fashion week has came and is gone…it’s time to catch up on editing select photos to showcase here in my website as I recover and catch up on all the lost sleep.
This Fashion Week was pretty odd given the fact that they re-worked the whole media registration process giving us about 10 days to get our stuff submitted. Also we put together our emails to contact the brands that decide to do their shows off-site and require ‘invitations’ to get the information to their venues… there was really no responses/replies from anyone forcing us to keep up with our mischievous practices of just showing up and getting in the faces of these PR agencies that failed to respond.
Overall the whole vibe was kind of quiet and nothing too exciting going on after the shows, except for the ‘official after party’ at the Womb… but was really out of the way and pretty pricey for the 3,500yen+1 drink ticket offer to get into this event (even for the press). This has given me the idea of putting together some sort of ‘un-official after party’ for the last day of fashion week… gives everyone a plan/place to hangout after and keep the mood going!
